Data Science

/ [2022] Political Donation Analysis

Campaign finance data is public, but helpful insights are buried in an ancient database.

This guide shows resource-strapped campaigns how to efficiently transform an unwieldy 500,000+ row dataset into workable tables with actionable insights.

/ [2022] Prediction Market Frictions

Prediction markets often offer arbitrageable inefficiencies.

This guide explores calculating expected returns for various positions in a 2022 congressional election prediction market.

/ [2022] Reviews of a Chapel Hill Hotel

Public reviews help guide consumer choices, but how can businesses use this feedback to improve?

For an ML class in college, my team and I performed sentiment analysis on customer reviews of a local hotel, illuminating aspects of the customer experience where the hotel was falling short.

/ [2022] DeFi Analysis

Decentralized exchanges (DEXs) allow people to permissionlessly swap crypto.

Perpetual futures (perps) are derivatives that let traders speculate on the price of an asset without ever expiring.

I made a simple perps profit calculator, and more of my decentralized data analysis work can be found on Dune.

/ [2020] Trends in SF Bike Theft

Anyone who's spent time in SF is often all too familiar with theft.

While working for a micromobility startup in San Francisco, I analyzed open-source data from the SFPD and internal theft data in R to identify high-risk theft scenarios which informed solutions for protecting customers and inventory.

This analysis helped bring our theft rates down by over 70% and guided the recovery of over $20,000 in hardware and arrears.

Design & PM

/ [2022] Hydroponics Lab

Hydroponics enables faster growth, higher yields, and year-round cultivation with less water and space.

After winning a grant from UNC's Renewable Energy Special Project Committee, I led a team to design and build a fully sustainable solar and hydrogen fuel cell-powered hydroponics lab.[1] [2]

I wrote a review exploring the current landscape of vertical farming and the philosophical implications of its success.

/ [2019] SAEP Website

      ⬇️     ⬇️     ⬇️

I fully rebuilt two of the South African Education Project's websites.

From start to finish, I got to know site users, explored existing issues through focus groups, developed personas and user journeys, designed mock-ups and wireframes, and ultimately launched the new site!

/ [2018] Passive Refrigeration

Cold chain inefficiencies around the globe cause up to 40% of food to spoil before it reaches a plate.

At UNC I cofounded Veera, a cold storage solution with enhanced evaporative cooling.

Working with smallholder farmers and distributors in Bihar and Kathmandu, Nepal, we designed a cold storage unit using solar power to extend the shelf life of produce, dynamically reacting to optimize cooling for any given temperature and humidity. My cofounder, Varun, has written more about the startup.
